Cocktail Pools: Size, Cost, & More

Not everyone has the space in their backyard for a full-size pool with all the trimmings. Not everyone even wants or can necessarily afford one. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have your own backyard oasis, because if you’re limited by space or budget, or you’re not going to be using it for anything that needs a lot of room, a cocktail pool offers the perfect alternative.

In this article, we’re looking at everything you need to know about cocktail pools – from what they are and how big they are, to how their cost compares against full-size pools and why you don’t need to miss out on great design or extra features when you have one.

What is a cocktail pool?

With a pool size of somewhere between 168 and 400 square feet, and probably no more than four feet deep, cocktail pools are noticeably smaller than your average pool. Nevertheless, they still have more than enough space for you to sit back, relax, and cool off with a cold beer or cocktail on a hot summer’s day.

Ideal for those with smaller backyards, or a more cost-effective alternative if your plans don’t involve things like lap swimming or pool parties, these compact pools can still enjoy all the aesthetic benefits of great pool design.

Design and features of a cocktail pool

Just because you’re going small with your pool, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy something that will look fantastic or feature a stylish design that fits seamlessly into your backyard.

Let your imagination run free. Your cocktail pool can be square or rounded, feature spa or hot tub elements like jets and bubblers, or be decorated with attractive pool lighting, fountains, and seating or lounging areas. You could even have one indoors if that’s where you have the space and you want to be able to enjoy its benefits throughout the year.

Whatever the space and budget you have available, our talented and creative designers are sure to be able to devise a pool that meets your every hope and wish!

Cost considerations of cocktail pools

The fact that you’re having a smaller pool means that your pool installation, pool maintenance, and other ongoing pool costs (such as chemicals and heating) will all be considerably less than for a standard-size pool. In fact, cocktail pools generally come in at about half the price of a full-sized pool.

If cost is not a consideration for you – because you only have the space or need for a small pool – you can still splash out on top-quality materials, water features, or other extras to make it an even more luxuriant space you’ll be proud to show off to friends and family.
